Dear NERSC Users, We are happy to announce that Perlmutter will be open to all NERSC users soon. By tomorrow all active NERSC users should be able to log onto Perlmutter and run jobs. For those of you who have not logged onto Perlmutter yet, please find some instructions for getting started <https://docs.nersc.gov/systems/perlmutter/>. Additionally, the first CPU-only nodes <https://docs.nersc.gov/systems/perlmutter/system_details/#cpu-only-nodes> are now available on Perlmutter. Please help us test these nodes by running your CPU jobs on them. Compiling should be very similar to compiling on Cori. Helpful links: - Perlmutter GPU Queue policy <https://docs.nersc.gov/jobs/policy/#perlmutter-gpu> ; Perlmutter CPU Queue policy <https://docs.nersc.gov/jobs/policy/#perlmutter-cpu> - Example scripts to run jobs <https://docs.nersc.gov/systems/perlmutter/running-jobs/#running-jobs-on-perlmutter> - Compiling your application for GPU nodes <https://docs.nersc.gov/systems/perlmutter/#compiling-gpu-applications-on-the-system> ; CPU-only nodes <https://docs.nersc.gov/systems/perlmutter/#compiling-cpu-applications-on-the-system> - Current known issues <https://docs.nersc.gov/current/#perlmutter> on Perlmutter – both new and on-going issues. Also note that when Perlmutter returns from maintenance today (in about an hour), the default programming environment will be GNU instead of NVIDIA. This reflects the changing nature of our system with both GPUs and CPUs now available. As always, if you wish to change the programming environment, you can use module load PrgEnv-<your choice>. Since Perlmutter is still a pre-production system, running a job does not incur a charge against your allocation on either GPU-accelerated or CPU-only nodes. Likewise, we will strive to maximize system uptime, but there are no uptime guarantees.
