Dear NERSC users, We would like to bring to your attention the following NERSC training events scheduled in September and October: - Facility Testing of E4S via E4S Testsuite, Spack Test, and Buildtest, Tue, Sept 14 (ECP training event <https://www.exascaleproject.org/event/buildtest-21-09/>) - Extreme-Scale Scientific Software Stack (E4S) is a collection of open-source software packages for running scientific applications typically run on HPC systems (installed on Cori and Summit now, and will be on Perlmutter, Spock, and Aurora in the coming months). This training covers some mechanisms (E4S Testsuite, Spack Test, and Buildtest) to test the software stack as part of the facility deployment. - https://www.nersc.gov/users/training/events/facility-testing-of-e4s-via-e4s-testsuite-spack-test-and-buildtest/ - CUDA Debugging, Tue, Sept 14 - Part of the NVidia CUDA Training Series <https://www.olcf.ornl.gov/cuda-training-series/>. CUDA Debugging best practices and two debugging tools (compute-sanitizer and cuda-gdb debugger) will be introduced with hands-on exercises. - https://www.nersc.gov/users/training/events/cuda-debugging-sep-2021/ - Introduction to OpenMP Device Offload, Wed-Thur, Sept 22-23 - This 2-day hands-on training by OLCF and NERSC covers topics including the OpenMP programming model overview and the basics of using OpenMP directives to offload work to GPUs, optimization strategies with efficient data movement and the hierarchy of parallelism to improve performance. The hands-on exercises will be available in both C and Fortran and will be designed to work with a variety of compilers on both the OLCF and NERSC Cori GPU systems. - https://www.nersc.gov/users/training/events/openmp-device-offload-sept-2021/ - E4S at DOE Facilities with Deep Dive at NERSC, Mon, Oct 4 (ECP training event <https://www.exascaleproject.org/event/e4s_at_doe_100421/> ) - The Extreme-Scale Scientific Software Stack (E4S) is a collection of open-source packages for running scientific applications on HPC platforms. The E4S stack comes with 80+ applications including programming models, MPI, development tools such as HPCToolkit, TAU and PAPI, and math libraries, including PETSC and Trilinos. This training will provide an overview of the ECP Software Deployment group, the components of E4S, tips and tricks for using E4S, and an overview of E4S stacks installed at NERSC that will be a mix of hands-on and walkthrough the NERSC E4S Documentation. - https://www.nersc.gov/users/training/events/e4s-at-doe-facilities-with-deep-dive-at-nersc-oct-4-2021/ - CUDA Graphs, Wed, Oct 13 - Part of the NVidia CUDA Training Series. <https://www.olcf.ornl.gov/cuda-training-series/> CUDA graphs are a model for work submission that helps improve strong scaling limits when using GPUs. This presentation will demonstrate how to use CUDA graphs in an application and discuss in what circumstances an application speedup may be obtained by using them, followed by hands-on example exercises. - https://www.nersc.gov/users/training/events/cuda-graphs-october-13-2021/ - Spinup Workshop, Oct 14, 21-22 - Spin is a container-based platform at NERSC designed for you to deploy your own science gateways, workflow managers, databases, API endpoints, and other network services to support your scientific projects. Services in Spin are built with Docker containers and can easily access NERSC systems and storage. - https://www.nersc.gov/users/training/events/spinup-workshop-oct-2021/ - NERSC AI for Science Bootcamp, Tue-Wed, Oct 19-20 - This 2-day Bootcamp hosted by NERSC and NVidia is designed to teach users fundamental concepts and practices in deep learning, and how to effectively apply them to scientific problems. Participants will learn how to implement the primary components of deep learning workflows, including hands-on exercises training and evaluating custom deep learning models on scientific datasets. - Space is limited, please register early. Active NERSC users will be prioritized during the registration process. - https://www.nersc.gov/users/training/events/nersc-ai-for-science-bootcamp-october-19-20-2021/ Please refer to the above links for more details and registration information.
